Mrs. Driskell will provide an overview of township government, clarifying essential services, legal requirements and opportunities for gaining efficiency and effectiveness. Other sessions will include an exploration of possible mergers of townships, compliance with public record access, guidance for providing township assistance and election and political campaigning issues for incumbents and potential candidates. Lisa Pierzakowski, Center Township Trustee, and Justin Kiel, Publisher of The Regional News and Westville Indicator, will also be speakers.

La Porte County League of Women Voters and the La Porte County Better Government Study Group are co-sponsoring an informational conference on Township Government on Saturday, November 18, at the James Dworkin Student Services and Activities Complex at Purdue University Northwest, 1401 U.S. Highway 421 in Westville. Deborah Driskell, Executive Director and Legal Counsel for the Indiana Township Government Association will be the keynote speaker. The conference is designed for township trustees and members of trustee boards as well as anyone interested in or concerned about township government. It will begin at 8:30am and conclude at 11:30am.
