Lunch and Dinner with the League

Lunch With The League on Tuesday October 8th will feature LaPorte County Commissioner Sheila Brillson Matias. Sheila will speak about her first 9 months as one of 3 commissioners who serve as the highest elected officials in the county and lead the Executive Branch of county government. She also serves as Executive Director of the Leadership institute at Purdue Northwest and the Society of Innovators at Purdue Northwest. There, she is focused on engaging and connecting university talent and resources with community needs so that the Leadership Institute can become the hub of leadership development for our region.  A former mayor of Michigan City, Sheila's experience in government operations, community development, project management and public policy is well known, and resulted in such projects as Safe Harbor, the Economic Development Commission of Michigan City, the Michigan City Enrichment Corporation (after helping to negotiate the Blue Chip Casino's contracting), and was National Director of Programs for Summer Advantage, USA, delivering summer learning programs to over 10,000 at risk youth.
