Lunch and Dinner with the League

The League of Women Voters of La Porte County is pleased to present Scott Pelath, Executive Director of the Kankakee River Basin Commission on Tuesday, June 11th’s Lunch With The League. His presentation will include information about the Commission, which coordinates the water resources and water-related land resources of the basin in Indiana. Their work is to promote and protect the varied aspects of the drain infrastructure with projects for flood control, drainage maintenance and environmental enhancements for natural resource conservation and recreational development. This includes sustaining the development of surface and ground water for agriculture, residential, recreational and commercial purposes.  Water quality and stream issues are also addressed, as are restoration and protection of fisheries, wetlands, and aquatic habitats.  In other words, this Commission ensures the future availability of water supplies in our area. There will be a question and answer period afterwards.

Please join the LWV for this informative 12:00 noon program at Patrick's Grille, 4125 Franklin Street, Michigan City, Indiana. The general public is invited and reservations are not required. For non-members, a donation is requested. Attendees are encouraged to arrive at 11:30 and may purchase a lunch of their choice from the menu, in time for the 12 noon presentation.
